Carl Jung was an influential Swiss psychiatrist who developed the theory of psychological type. He believed that we all have a “type” of personality, which determines how we think, act and feel. Jung believed that people can be highly creative, innovative and original. He believed that we all have a more dominant function, which acts as our “primary” personality type. This will determine how we express our “secondary” personality traits.
There are four different types within each of these four pairs of types. The dominant function is the “primary” type and the other two are considered to be “secondary” types. The secondary types are less dominant, but just as important to us. Each personality type will have a dominant function and a “lesser” function, which is commonly referred to as the “auxiliary” function.
