SATANISM IS NOT A RELIGION
The term "Satanism" is used in this article with the meaning of "the practice of Satanism", which is NOT a religion. It is a philosophy, or a set of beliefs, which was popularized by Anton LaVey in 1969, and also known as The Church of Satan.
Although it is often associated with images of black magic and devil worship, there is no evidence that this is true. Neither have any of the claims about the history of the religion ever been proved. The Church of Satan is not connected with any other groups, such as the Satanic Temple, that call themselves "Satanists", and the church has no connection with the Church of Satan in Russia.
Satanism is not a religion. It is a philosophy, which is based on the premise that human beings are inherently evil and they should live their lives in pursuit of pleasure and personal gain.
