Johann Schmidt “Red Skull” personality type is ENTJ, at least in my book. There was a lot of Russian blood in his family, and he was a brilliant, driven student who would have easily made it to a high level of military or, much more likely, academic or political service.
But as the Nazis came to power he saw his opportunity, and he set out to climb the ranks as quickly as possible. In doing so, however, he cut a lot of corners. Schmidt would have been far better off as a member of the SS’s general staff or as a commanding officer of a special forces unit. But he was a hard-driving SS officer. He was not a thug with a gun in his hand, but a bureaucrat in a suit. He would have been a fine SS officer, but he missed his chance to rise in the ranks when he opted for a position with the Gestapo instead of the SS.
Schmidt’s “Red Skull” personality is very much at odds with his actual character. It is common for people who have been in situations where their path forward is blocked by external forces to become bitter and hateful. We see this in many people caught in situations where they feel powerless.
