He does not bother to figure out how things got their current shape (he’s more interested in what they are now than in how they got that way), but he does figure out how to get them to shape up in the way that he wants. He tries to figure out how to make things the way he wants them.
The Explorer doesn’t just want to be successful or happy. He wants to make things better. He wants to make things better because that is what he thinks is right.
