In a famous example, he envisioned a clock that had two possible positions: a stationary position and a moving position. He proposed that the clock would possess a property called "translational invariance." This is a property that would make it impossible for the clock's position to change from one position to another. He said that this property was attributed to mass or energy. In other words, mass or energy could not be converted from one form to another. This property was a very important part of Einstein's theory of relativity.
