Alenka Zupančič is a Slovenian philosopher whose work focuses on psychoanalysis and continental philosophy. She is a professor at The European Graduate School / EGS and at the University of Nova Gorica. In her most prominent book of What is Sex? whereas drawing on Freud and Lacan, Zupančič argues that sexuality is at the point of a “short circuit” between ontology and epistemology since sexuality and knowledge are structured around a fundamental negativity, which unites them at the point of the unconscious. Zupančič further states that the unconscious (as linked to sexuality) is the concept of an inherent link between being and knowledge in their very negativity
