Dominique Lecourt is a French philosopher and publisher born February 5, 1944 in Paris. Professor emeritus at the University of Paris Diderot-Paris 7, he belongs to the tradition of French epistemology which goes from Bachelard to Cavaillès, Canguilhem and Foucault.
A former rector of academia and former chairman of the supervisory board of Presses universitaires de France (PUF), he is now honorary chairman, director and vice-chairman of the board of PUF (2014). From June 2011 to November 2014, he was chairman and CEO of Libris, the main shareholder of this publishing house until it was bought out by the Scor reinsurance group headed by Denis Kessler [1].
Since October 2009 he has been Managing Director of the Institut Diderot, a think tank created by the mutual insurance group Covéa headed by Thierry Derez [2], whose ambition is to promote a forward-looking vision on the major issues of concern to contemporary societies.
