    INFP

    INFP (4w5)

Edward Said personality type is INFP, as close as I can describe it. For those of you who don't recognize the type, it's the "dreamer" or "idealist." The person who can't seem to be pulled toward materialism and practicality. The person who seems to be so lost in the abstract and philosophical that they can't seem to get ahead of themselves. The person who would rather spend every waking moment looking for the next good idea than doing "real world" things. Because of all this, they tend to be great at creating and imagining their own realities, but terrible at seeing the world as it is. They're very creative and can come up with very interesting and unique ideas, but they can't seem to bring those ideas to fruition. They're often labeled as "poor planners" because they seem to have a hard time organizing their thoughts and plans. This is a misperception, but a pervasive one. The INFP personality type is the one that tends to create imaginative and original thought, but they don't have an actual framework for those ideas. They're often called "idealistic" because they're great at envisioning what could be, but not as good as most at envisioning what is.

Edward Wadie Said was a professor of literature at Columbia University, a public intellectual, and a founder of the academic field of postcolonial studies. A Palestinian American born in Mandatory Palestine, he was a citizen of the United States by way of his father, a U.S. Army veteran.
