Ramakrishna Paramahamsa (1836 – 1886) was born as Gadadhar Chatterjee in the village of Kamarpukur in West Bengal [1].

At the age of 15, he left his home, moved to Puri and entered a monastery.
He had a vision at the age of 18 in which a saint named Sri Ramakrishna appeared to him, who told him to renounce all worldly ties and devote himself to God.
He went to Kolkata in 1856 and lived for a short time in the house of a low caste woman. He was not happy with this life and decided to leave her house.
He then moved to Santipur where he finally met Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in 1858. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa stayed with him for three years during which time he learnt many esoteric things.
