Maya personality type is ESTJ, and I think we can safely say that she's not a sociopath or psychopath. She's just a person who knows how to get what she wants and doesn't particularly care what others think of her.
She's very good at her job, she loves her kids and her husband, she loves and trusts people, she's very loyal and has a big heart (although she's very competitive with her husband and kids), and she has a very strong moral compass. She's also fairly self-conscious about her appearance and her weight, which is often a source of conflict with the people around her.
If you take all these things into account, it's not hard to see why people can be so confused by Emma.
Emma is obviously very intelligent, but her intelligence doesn't always serve her well. She has a tendency to get triggered when people try to tell her what to do (such as when Regina tells her to clean up the house) or when someone criticizes her.
