The story ends with them both committing double suicide jumping into a part of the local river where it would be later called the lover's abyss.
Esemori's real name is Akira Nozoe. He used to live in that same town he wrote about and that the story takes place after moving from Tokyo. He used to be bullied before he met Yuko Kurose.
