Brainiac personality type is ENTP, it's just that I think he's a little more aggressive. I think he's probably more like an ISFP personality type, but not as extreme. I've never given him a personality type. He just has that kind of personality. As for why he's called "Brainiac" I have no idea.
I know the story of the Brainiac has become a running joke over the years with Superman fans, so I'm sure some of you have heard it. It originated with the story of the Brainiac of Krypton, who was a being of pure intellect, able to absorb knowledge at incredible speeds. He was born on Krypton, and before his father's death, he absorbed all of his father's knowledge. After his father's death, he decided he didn't like Krypton and wanted to leave. So he built a spaceship and flew off into space. He was eventually stranded on Earth and came to be known as Brainiac!
This is the origin I'm going with – that his ship crashed on Earth and he was left to fend for himself. And that's why he's called "Brainiac".
