The most important thing I learned while reading this book is that reading, writing, and living are all the same things. The way she makes it so clear that life is an endless quest for self-discovery through the lens of storytelling is beautiful.
I love the way this book is all about the author’s process and the fact that she takes us along for the ride. It made me realize that there is no such thing as a “typical writer” and that I should stop trying to be one.
A lot of times, people limit themselves to the way they write; this book showed me that there is no such thing as a writer, just like there is no such thing as a painter or sculptor, but rather an artist who happens to write or draw or paint. I think that this book should be required reading for any creative person because it helped me realize that everyone’s process is different and there is no one life path for us to follow.
