Theo van Gogh (film director) personality type is ENTP, which is described in his book Tourist: The True Story of My Gaysian Journey as “geeky, self-absorbed, humorless, and a little bit obnoxious.” He has been called “trouble” and “twee” (meaning “shy and sweet” in Dutch) by both his gay and straight friends. When I read about his life and his gay experience, I immediately saw myself in the film – a geeky, self-absorbed, humorless personality type who is considered a little bit obnoxious.

I will never forget the first time I saw the film. I was at a party in New Zealand one evening in July 2011 when I saw a friend walking down the street with an armful of DVDs. He was holding something that looked like a movie and he asked me to look at it. I happily obliged and was instantly hooked; I watched it three times in a row.

The first time I watched it, I was a little disappointed. It felt like a television movie, which is fine but after my experience with the movie The Godfather, which I had seen on TV, I felt like something was missing.

Theodoor "Theo" van Gogh (23 July 1957 – 2 November 2004) was a Dutch director and film and television producer, actor and author. He directed "Submission: Part 1", a short film written by Somali writer and political Ayaan Hirsi Ali, which criticized the treatment of women in Islam in strong terms. On 2 November 2004, van Gogh was assassinated by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim who objected to the film's controversial message. The last film van Gogh had completed before his death, 06/05, was, ironically, a fictional exploration of the assassination of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn (1948–2002). It was released posthumously in December 2004, a month after van Gogh's assassination.
