Soarin personality type is ISFP, or Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving. A lot of people I’ve met and studied with who are ISFPs (I don’t claim to speak for the whole group, of course) have described themselves as “quiet and shy”, and that’s pretty much exactly how I am. Which is not to say that I don’t like people very much; as I mentioned before, I am a very social person (and as such, I like talking about this stuff). But I like meeting people on my own terms, and I have a hard time making up things on the fly.
That being said, I have talked to a lot of people who have this type, and it seems to me that a lot of them have a hard time feeling confident about their introversion. They struggle with feeling so anxious at parties, and their need to be alone to recharge after a social event makes them feel too anxious to go out at all. They feel like they have to force themselves to go along with people that they don’t really want to be around, and that they can’t just relax and enjoy being social.
