Doc personality type is INTP, I am a very "out there" type of person in every way. I think that's probably why I became an engineer in the first place. The one thing I've been thinking about a lot lately is the way in which we, as engineers, can use the cognitive processes of our mind to make decisions and take action based on what we know to be true. To me, that seems like an "out there" concept, but it's actually very simple.
Think of it this way: we all have certain ideas in our mind that we know to be true. These ideas are called "facts". In order to take action, we have to filter these facts through our own personal cognitive processes. This can be done subconsciously or consciously. In my opinion, this is one of the most basic yet important things we do in life. While we have individual cognitive processes, they are all the same: they are algorithms that work to filter facts from other facts and decide what is useful and what is not.
How do we use these algorithms?
I believe that we use these algorithms in everyday life all the time.
