Ganoes Paran is a half-Salvadoran, half-German boy of 17 when he joins the United States Army in 2006. He is described as having dark skin and a lean frame, and in his military records, he is described as having "calloused hands" and "dark eyes". His eyes occasionally change color when he's in emotional distress, and when they do, they turn either green or blue. Curiously, when he was in Germany, his eyes changed from blue to green. In flashbacks of his childhood, his eyes are described as having been "a bright sky-blue".
In flashbacks of his childhood, Ganoes was described as being very shy and reserved, and "always had a smile on his lips", but had a tendency to be very angry and impulsive when something made him angry. He was often small for his age and had a tendency to get bullied for this.
