Sam personality type is INTP, just like me. So, I can tell you my own opinion about this. The original story is about a detective (a bit like Sherlock, but not quite like him) who has been hired to solve the mystery of what happened to this person. He was an INTP, and I think that was the whole point of the movie. The second case is the same situation, but this time the protagonist is an INFJ. I think that's the only difference between INTP and INFJ, they both have the same detective, but they're different in the first case and the second case. What I think is interesting - INFJ have a bit more aggressive personality than INTP, but INTP are a bit more quiet than INFJ. INTP are more focused on logic, creativity, and thinking, and INFJs are more focused on feelings and interpersonal relations. The second movie wasn't about solving a mystery about someone who had been murdered - it was about solving a mystery about two people who were separated by 30 years in time. I think that's why the second one was written for an INFJ character. And I don't think it's a coincidence that this character was written as INTP.
