Viktor Reznov appears in the game as a playable character. He appears in the single-player campaign, where he is one of the main characters along with Nikita Dragovich, although he also appears in two other missions alongside Captain Mitrofan Andreyev. While Reznov is playable in the campaign, he is not controllable in any other missions (he cannot be used in Online Mode). He is voiced by James McCaffrey.
Viktor Reznov is a Soviet soldier who fought for the Red Army during World War II. He was one of the few surviving members of his Red Army squad at the end of the war. After the war, he lived in Berlin before being captured by West German intelligence. He spent many years being tortured by the CIA before being rescued by Solid Snake. He eventually joined the Patriots, working as a liaison between them and FOXHOUND. Although he worked to protect his country, he was also known to commit ruthless acts against his enemies, particularly the Patriots. When the Patriots were exposed, he defected to the Patriots' enemies, believing that they were making a better world.
