The other day, I was speaking with a client about the process of creating a website. He was asking me questions about WordPress, which is what he uses. I was trying to explain to him that WordPress provides the tools necessary to build a website, but he was having trouble grasping this concept. He didn’t get why you would need to use something else other than WordPress to build a website.
I could see that he was not quite grasping what I was saying; this was not his area of expertise. He’s very good at making money, but he’s not good at building websites. This is certainly true of many entrepreneurs.
I told him that he did not need to know how to build websites, but he did need to know how to manage them. I suggested that he get a friend or colleague who is very good at building websites to build his site for him. I said that the person I recommend should be good at WordPress, but not good enough to build his own website. Someone who is good enough to build his own website should be good enough to manage the site for him.
