Jo Powers personality type is ESTJ, and my next door neighbor, Bob is an ENTJ. As I said before, my initial reaction was to feel inferior and self-conscious, but now that I know that ESTJs are the most common Myers Briggs type for those with Asperger syndrome, I am now determined to not let it affect me negatively, but to embrace the situation as an opportunity to learn and grow.
I have read that many people with Asperger’s syndrome lack the ability to read the emotions of others, and because of this fact, they can be treated as insensitive or unemotional. I am determined to work on these shortcomings and develop the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to the emotions of others.
At first I tried to do this by studying and analyzing the emotions of those around me, but found that I didn’t have the ability to accurately read their emotions. This is a skill that I will have to develop, and one that I am determined to do.
In the meantime, I will continue to find ways to improve myself. In my new life, I must learn to communicate better, be more accurate in my thoughts and actions, and adjust my personality more appropriately.
