John personality type is INTP, and Christian’s is INFP. My theory is this: after many years of artistic and intellectual exploration, Christian turned to the world of religion because it offered an outlet for his creativity, his imagination, and his deep-seated need for a connection to the divine. After learning about Christianity, he felt he was on a similar path with God. (I have no doubt that Christian had studied Buddhism and Hinduism in preparation for his conversion.)
Like a lot of people who get converted to religion, Christian didn’t quite know what to do with all the new directives. I’m sure he had plenty of questions and doubts, but he was too busy feeling grateful and excited to fight with those thoughts.
Christian was a good Christian. He prayed regularly, went to church, donated generously to good causes, never gave me any trouble on that front, and was generally good to the people around him. But beneath the surface was a troubled man who felt like he was missing something in his life. The only thing I could see was that he was hungry to explore other spiritual paths.
