Mr. Gambi is the protégé of Dr. Nelsonダンクサイド (Dum Dum Dugan), who runs the S.H.I.E.L.D. research facility in the Trish's home town of New Mexico, and uses the name of his mentor's organization to cover his own identity, as he has no concept of privacy, especially when it comes to his work, which is always classified. Dr. Dugan also serves as Mr. Gambi's mentor, and is extremely protective of him.
Several of his skills are based upon his intuition, which is very evident in his work with the "tape-recorders", which he uses to record conversations without the knowledge of the people involved, and even at one point when he kidnaps a member of a criminal gang to force him to give up information about them so he can use it to shut them down, despite Tony Stark's objections when he finds out about it.
