ESTJs can be considered "by-the-book" and "by-the-numbers" people. They're the ones you see wearing ties and suits and doing their job at work. ESTJs are also the ones who believe in "policing" people and "preserving" the status quo. They're the ones who believe in discipline and rules and consequences, and will be the first to tell you when someone's not following the rules. They're the ones who will be the first to say, "That's not how we do things around here," and point out when someone else is breaking a rule.
The problem is that ESTJs can be a little overzealous in this way, and when they're in "policing" mode, they can be a little too harsh. For example, when an ESTJ is in "policing" mode, it can be easy for them to say things like, "You didn't follow the rules," or, "I'm going to have to dock your pay for this.
