In the first season of the series, Roa's personality is mostly similar to the one in the manga. On the other hand, his personality started to change drastically in the second season. He develops a more calm and collected personality and seems to have a crush on Rio Yanagi. His personality is still very similar to his manga counterpart, but can be portrayed as more mature, mature and thoughtful. He is also shown to be somewhat socially awkward as shown when he was trying to comfort an injured Rio Yanagi after she was almost eaten by a giant shark. His personality is also reflected in his ability to defeat his opponents with his thought process. He has shown to be very intelligent and often uses his intelligence to solve his problems. Despite this, he has been shown to have a short temper and often pouts when he doesn't get what he wants.
He has a very strong sense of justice and will do anything to see it through. He is often very determined and will often face any obstacle head-on. He often underestimates his opponents, but that doesn't mean he will back down easily.
