It was difficult for Hoyt to understand why he had to be so serious, but for many years, he tried to live up to his father's expectations.

    As an adult, Hoyt found it difficult to be so serious all the time. He was always trying to be the responsible one, the capable one, the strong one. Every few years he would "unlearn" some of the things that his father had told him about being a professional, responsible man, but he kept trying.

    Hoyt says that his ESTJ brain is constantly trying to push him out of his comfort zone. He doesn't want to be the "responsible one" all the time; he wants to explore new things, new possibilities. He wants to explore new ideas, new futures.
