Megatron personality type is ENTJ, while Megatron is an ESTP. In the Japanese version, he is an ENTJ. That's a pretty big difference.
In the Japanese version, Megatron is an engineer who wants to conquer the world for himself. In the English version, he's completely insane.
What I think that this means is that Hasbro just randomly decided to give Megatron an entirely different personality in the English version than he has in the Japanese version.
And that's just what Hasbro did with Optimus Prime. They just changed his personality completely in the English version.
For example, in the Japanese version, Prime is much more of a leader, while in the English version, he's much more of an exception than a leader. He's also portrayed as much more distant than he is in the Japanese version, and much more willing to kill people when the situation calls for it.
I think that this change was made because there were complaints about how Prime was too "nice" in the Japanese version. And I think that what they did by changing his personality is they were trying to fix that problem.
However, what they did is they created a whole new problem.
