However, when he enrolled in one of Turkey's leading business schools in the 1990s, he suddenly found himself in a competitive environment where he could make his own decisions and choose his own projects.
Çiçek continued to work in the private sector after university, working in various sectors including finance, manufacturing, retail and real estate. He started his career as a financial analyst and worked at one of Turkey's largest banks, Sabancı Holding.
In 1999, Çiçek founded his own company, Çiçek Group. Since then, he has worked to change the way people think about capitalism in Turkey, by initiating a number of not-for-profit projects throughout the country.
In 2001, Çiçek launched a program called "Çiçek's Dolls", which provides kits for children who have been victims of physical or sexual abuse to create lifelike dolls from donated toys.
