Jordan, who’s been living in her parents’ house for more than a year, said she had some “difficult conversations” with them before leaving home.
“I think they were shocked and I actually think they were actually pretty happy,” she said. “I think they were relieved to finally be able to get rid of me.”
But Jordan, who had been on the Spectrum Youth program since she was 14, said she doesn’t regret choosing to live on her own.
“I don’t feel like I was forced out of the house,” she said. “They wanted me to grow up and I was trying to do that. But also they didn’t want me being with people my own age anymore.”
Jordan said she has a job and a roof over her head, but she still has a long road ahead of her.
