But since the launch of the Optimus Prime toy, fans of the character have been asking Hasbro to make a figure of the character in his classic Generation 1 colors. The figure has not been released, either in Japan or in North America. Many fans would agree that the DOTM “Convoy” figure looked like Prime, but that figure was not released here, either. Since the toy line is set in the year 2005 (when the last Transformers film, Revenge of the Fallen, was released) and with the toy line being “retro” it seemed impossible for a figure of Prime to be made. However, in 2014 it was announced that Takara was to make a new “Genesis” Optimus Prime toy, which will probably be similar to the “Convoy” figure released in Japan.
However, this would be the very first Hasbro reissue of the classic Generation 1 Optimus Prime toy.
