Early Life
John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1917, to Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald. He was the sixth of eleven children, and was an only child. He had three older brothers, John Fitzgerald, Jr., Robert F. Kennedy, and Edward M. Kennedy; three younger brothers, Joseph P. Kennedy III, Patrick J. Kennedy, and Paul T. Kennedy; and two sisters, Rosemary Kennedy and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
His father was an Irish American businessman and politician who owned a large business in Boston, Massachusetts, and had many investments in Europe. He went bankrupt during Kennedy's childhood, which was the cause of the family moving to New York City.
Education
Kennedy attended Boston Latin School for his primary education. During that time, he met his best friend, John F. Kennedy Jr., who was attending Harvard at the time. He went on to attend Harvard University (A.B., 1940) and then got his law degree (L.L.B., 1946) from Harvard Law School.
