Shinpachi’s True Form personality type is ENTJ, which means he’s an Extravert (E) and Ninety-Nine (N) for his emotional processing and intuition. In contrast to this, his dominant function is Introverted Intuition (I), meaning he processes information internally and makes decisions based on that information. He’s also a Perceiver (P) instead of a Judger, which means his primary method of decision-making is through observation and understanding.
So while he’s well suited to an Extraverted style of interaction, he can also be quite reserved when it comes to getting close to people. In fact, this was one of the deciding factors in his character’s in-show death. During the first few episodes, Shinpachi had a friendly relationship with Yae and his other coworkers, but things turned sour when he started to get close to her. He was the one who told her she wasn’t allowed to go and see her parents, and then subsequently ran into her in the street and witnessed her being attacked by a gang.
