    Pentheus

Pentheus was a Thracian hero, and the son of Sisyphus, the king of Corinth. He was a strong and courageous warrior. One day, he was captured by the king of Thebes, who then tortured him and forced him to witness his father being torn limb from limb and eaten by wild animals. This drove Pentheus insane and he went mad and began to slaughter the citizens of Thebes. The gods were enraged by Pentheus' actions and Zeus sent two giant eagles to carry him away and deposit him in the mountains after they had torn out his eyes.

Pentheus was a religious fanatic and believed that the gods did not care about humanity, and therefore did not care about human suffering. He also believed that the gods were fair and just and that they did not punish humans on account of their actions, but that they punished humans for their sins.

Creon (Ancient Greek: Κρέων Kreōn means "ruler"), is a figure in Greek mythology best known as the ruler of Thebes in the legend of Oedipus. He had four sons and three daughters with his wife, Eurydice (sometimes known as Henioche): Henioche, Pyrrha, Megareus (also called Menoeceus), Lycomedes and Haimon. Creon and his sister, Jocasta, were descendants of Cadmus and of the Spartoi.
