In Babylonian mythology, Tiamat was a great goddess of fertility, creation, and destruction. She was also associated with saltwater, fish and sea creatures. She is described as having the face of a lioness or dragon (or both), and had hundreds of heads, which were said to be those of lions, dragons and snakes.
