Gotou-sensei personality type is ESTJ, which is the epitome of what makes a good teacher. The stereotype is the old-school, no nonsense, hard-ass teacher who has no time for nonsense and thinks that everyone is either smart or stupid. This is a caricature, but it’s one that I’ve seen in a lot of teachers at my high school, and I don’t think that you can be a good teacher if you don’t like kids.
But most of the teachers I know tend to be the opposite of that stereotype.
This isn’t to say that they are all softies and cuddly, but they still tend to be very patient. They tend to be very open and think of ways to make their lessons more interesting, whether that be by having a funny or ironic lesson or by adding in some sort of interactive game or letting the kids get creative. And these aren’t one off things either; these are things that teachers do every day, whether it be in a different way for every kids or every week or every month.
But there are also those teachers who fall somewhere in the middle.
