If he's not in the right mood, he can get really nasty. But when he's in this mood, he's a lot nicer.

I try to keep it safe. He's not going to hurt anybody. He just has a way of being mean and cruel to people. So I do a lot of self-talk with him. I try a lot of things that just get him to be a little bit nicer to other people.
What would you say to someone whose spouse or significant other has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder?
I would tell them to give it time, because it can take a while for it to go away once it's been diagnosed. It's a lifetime thing, but it's possible for it to get better.
