I’ve never been a very good student, preferring to get my hands dirty with the actual mechanics of the game rather than trying to learn all the terminology, but I did manage to get to my first 9-4 and 2-3 record at Regionals. All of my wins were against people who were really good at the game. The other person I went up against was an ENFP who was also a reviewer. The matchup wasn’t exactly a classic. I had a decent amount of experience in Netrunner but he was a better deck builder and a better player than me. I think if we played another game now, I would be able to take him, but back then I was just an inexperienced noob.
All of this culminated in my first day at Worlds!
I spent the entire day in the main hall, spending time with new friends, checking out all the different decks, and generally being starstruck. It was such an awesome experience.
That night, I worked on building my team, and put together a pretty good team that consisted of myself, two of my friends and an ENFP who was my girlfriend at the time.
