ZloyXP personality type is INTP, which I’ve always been a bit skeptical of, because it seems to explain the INTP’s tendency to be a loner, while not really addressing the feeling of being a misfit. That’s the feeling that INTPs sometimes get, but it doesn’t explain why they feel that way or what changes in their life circumstances might have caused it.
The answer lies in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. In the hierarchy, the basic needs are physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, meaning and self-actualization. Here’s how Maslow describes the last two of the four psychological needs:
Self-actualization is the highest level of needs. This level includes the need to be a full human being, to do things for one’s own satisfaction and to do things for others. It is a life-long process that involves every person almost all the time during his childhood and adolescence. It includes needing to be close to others, but also being close to oneself. It involves getting children interested in learning and in sports and games and hobbies and developing artistic and inventive abilities.
