Pilhede was born in Sweden on the 9th of November 1972. He grew up with a very dysfunctional family situation. His parents divorced when he was still a small child, but since the divorce happened before he was even born, he didn't really know what his parents were like.
His father had moved to Sweden from Finland before 1938, and ended up becoming a pilot in the Swedish Air Force. He was trained as a pilot in the Royal Swedish Air Force, where he spent most of his life. Just before he retired he flew for the British Royal Air Force.
His mother was born in Sweden, but her family came from Estonia. They had bought their farm in Sweden after World War I, and they ended up becoming Swedish citizens after they were married.
