His career began in the early 1980s. He started operations as a freelancer for a company that specialized in distributing films over the telephone line. In the early 1990s, he left this company to start his own distribution company. This distribution company soon grew into a film production and distribution company that he co-founded with his brother, Hakan Avşar. His brother Hakan’s experience as a director led to Bekir Avşar’s involvement in film production, and the company became known as Avşar Film. A few years later, the company became a major player in the television production and distribution field. In 2006, Avşar Film merged with Müzik Televizyon Yayın ve Müzik A.Ş., a television production and distribution company that was founded by Bekir Avşar’s mother, Ebru Avşar. The merged company was named Müzik TV.
