In order to restore life, Demeter had to go to Hades and ask for her daughter's return. In return for her return, Hades allowed the earth to sprout plants and produce crops.Persephone was a beautiful maiden who was very close to her mother Demeter. Her brother Zeus, or Zeus the king, was jealous of her beauty and tried to woo her. To keep her away from men, Zeus made Hades fall in love with her.
