The book is an attempt to construct a psychological portrait of the man who died at age 35. The title Genius: A Life of Mozart is taken from a letter that Mozart wrote to his wife, Constanze, in 1791, when he was still alive. He wrote: “I feel it necessary to confess that I am a genius.”
Marie-Louise von Franz (4 January 1915 – 17 February 1998) was a Swiss Jungian psychologist and scholar, renowned for her psychological interpretations of fairy tales and of alchemical manuscripts.
