The traditional Marxian labor theory of value was based on the labor theory of value that Karl Marx developed in his 1867 book "Das Kapital". According to Marx's labor theory of value, the value of individual commodities was determined by the amount of labor that went into their production. If the amount of labor used to produce a commodity was less than its value, then it would be said that the commodity has a negative value.
