Scott and Megan met at a party in Manhattan in 2000, Scott said. They moved to Westport in 2006.
Scott said he did not have much contact with his son while he was growing up.
When he was in high school and college, Scott said, his son would do work for him and send it back, but he was reluctant to talk about what he was doing. The Internet was still in its infancy when Scott was growing up, and Scott said he could not find technology jobs for his son, who began to feel like he would not be able to live up to his potential if he could not get a good job in technology.
