What is the personality type of Hippocrates? Which MBTI personality type best fits? Personality type for Hippocrates from Biology & Medicine and what is the personality traits.
Hippocrates personality type is INTP, as is the average person. But as we saw in the chapter on psychosocial functions, we can use that alone as a starting point and then we can do a detailed analysis of the INTP's personality and then see which of the other four personality types they most closely resemble.
Here we'll use the Jung-Myers Briggs system as a starting point and then we'll look at it in more detail, but for now we'll just look at the basics of it.
The acronym for the MBTI is M-N-E-T-I-C. The letters stand for:
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is a trademark of the Myers & Briggs Foundation.
Like the other four personality types we've looked at, INTPs can be identified by their dominant function and their auxiliary function. So the dominant function is Introverted Thinking and the auxiliary function is Extraverted Intuition.
Like all personality types, INTPs have eight personality traits which are arranged in specific order along four axes. The four axes are called the Myers-Briggs® attitudes, each of which is based on one of the four functions.
Hippocrates of Kos (/hɪˈpɒkrətiːz/; Greek: Ἱπποκράτης ὁ Κῷος, translit. Hippokrátēs ho Kṓos; c. 460 – c. 370 BC), also known as Hippocrates II, was a Greek physician of the Age of Pericles (Classical Greece), who is considered one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine. He is often referred to as the "Father of Medicine" in recognition of his lasting contributions to the field as the founder of the Hippocratic School of Medicine. This intellectual school revolutionized medicine in ancient Greece, establishing it as a discipline distinct from other fields with which it had traditionally been associated (theurgy and philosophy), thus establishing medicine as a profession.
