Born in 1933 in Egypt, Ibn Miskawayh grew up in a family where his father was a teacher and his mother was a doctor. He learned from his father, who was a teacher, that education is the key to success. Education is what makes the individual strong and powerful.
At the age of 16 he left home and traveled to Mecca to study under Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Al-Hasan Al-Shaybani, one of the foremost Sufis of the time. In 1945 he received his first degree in Arabic language and then began his studies in Islamic law. He earned his second degree in Arabic literature and began teaching Arab literature at Al-Azhar University in 1952. Later he graduated with a degree in literature and continued teaching at Al-Azhar.
