    Pentti Linkola was born on 25 June 1945, in Helsinki. He graduated from the University of Helsinki in 1969 with a master's degree in education and was employed as a teacher.

    Pentti Linkola's political views began to develop during his student years. He became involved with the far-right National Coalition Party, which had been founded in 1974 as a radical conservative alternative to the Social Democratic Party of Finland. In the early 1980s, he was a member of the Young New Right, a group of young conservative radicals within the National Coalition Party.

    In 1981, Linkola began publishing a journal called "Insinööri", which was published from 1981 to 1988.

    Kaarlo Pentti Linkola (7 December 1932 – 5 April 2020) was a Finnish radical deep ecologist, ornithologist, polemicist, naturalist, writer, and fisherman. He wrote widely about his ideas and in Finland was a prominent thinker. Linkola was a year-round fisherman from 1959 to 1995. He fished on Keitele, Päijänne and Gulf of Finland, and since 1978 he fished on Vanajavesi.

    A guru for the ecofascist militant tendency in environmental ethics, Linkola blamed humans for the continuous degradation of the environment. He promoted rapid population decline to combat the problems commonly attributed to overpopulation.
