Booker T. Washington personality type is ESTJ, as opposed to the ENTP. In his autobiography, Washington wrote of his family as follows:
Washington's father, a slave, was owned by a free-black woman from the island of Nevis, who had been given as a slave to a white man in St. Kitts. His mother was a slave of a white planter from Barbados. As a result of this racially mixed background, he spoke with a distinct West Indian accent, and his writing is characterized by a Caribbean patois.
In his childhood, Washington was taught to read and write by his slave master and by the Reverend Dr. Emile DePeyster, who was a friend of his mother's. In 1835, his owner moved him from the plantation to the home of his wife's brother Robert. In 1844, after his owner's death, Washington's family moved to a farm in Port Gibson and later to another farm near Holly Springs, Mississippi, where Washington attended school. He was expelled from both schools for fighting and theft.
In 1852, at the age of 16, he married Fanny Chaffee. They had three children: George Washington Jr., Fanny, and Mary.
Booker Taliaferro Washington was an American educator, author, orator, and advisor to presidents of the United States. Between 1890 and 1915, Washington was the dominant leader in the African American community.
