Edward "Colonel" House personality type is INTP, which means he would be a brilliant and knowledgeable decision maker, but would have difficulty communicating that information to others. As a result, people with this personality type tend to be poor communicators and often lack confidence. House's "Colonel" personality type would be an INTP. He was brilliant and knew it, but he would not ever want to admit it to anyone else. I think the external personality type of House is INTJ. It is true that he is a brilliant doctor, but he is also a brilliant man who knows it. I don't think his INTP personality would make him a bad doctor or a bad person, but it would make him less empathetic and less able to help others. I agree with you that House is INTP. He is a very intelligent man, but he doesn't realize that he is one of the most intelligent people around. He does not use his intelligence for anything except for curing sick people or getting very rich. An INTP would not be motivated to help people because it would not have any value to them. They would not be able to turn their intelligence into something useful. That is why an INTP would be a bad doctor.

Edward Mandell House (July 26, 1858 – March 28, 1938) was an American diplomat, and an advisor to President Woodrow Wilson. He was known by the nickname Colonel House, although he had performed no military service. He was a highly influential back-stage politician in Texas before becoming a key supporter of the presidential bid of Wilson in 1912. Having a self-effacing manner, he did not hold office but was an "executive agent", Wilson's chief advisor on European politics and diplomacy during World War I (1914–18) and at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. In 1919 Wilson, suffering from a series of small strokes, broke with House and many other top advisors, believing they had deceived him at Paris.

In September 1918, Wilson gave House the responsibility for preparing a constitution for a League of Nations. In October 1918, when Germany petitioned for peace based on the Fourteen Points, Wilson charged House with working out details of an armistice with the Allies.
