Edmund Dudley was a financial agent of Henry VII, and was known mostly for working on the much-maligned tribunal of the royal council - the Council Learned in the Law. Dudley, alongside his fellow Council Learned member Richard Empson, would be executed by Henry VIII in 1510. Dudley, in spite of his execution, would nevertheless be the beginning of a political dynasty in Tudor England. His son, John Dudley, would become the de facto leader of England during the latter half of Edward VI's minority. His grandson, Robert Dudley, would become a court favourite of Queen Elizabeth I.
